Crowley Stena Marine Solutions, the joint venture between Crowley and Stena Bulk, has added the U.S.-flagged tanker CS Anthem to the U.S. Maritime Administration’s Tanker Security Program (TSP). The 49,990-metric-ton medium-range tanker, built in 2017 and recently reflagged from the Marshall Islands to the United States, now sails under Crowley’s management and homeports in Jacksonville. It replaces the Stena Immaculate, which was withdrawn after sustaining severe collision damage earlier this year.

The Tanker Security Program ensures a dedicated fleet of U.S.-flagged, U.S.-crewed product tankers remains available to support the Department of Defense’s fuel transport requirements. With the CS Anthem joining two other vessels, the Stena Imperative and Stena Impeccable, Crowley strengthens its role in safeguarding strategic sealift capacity.

According to Crowley Shipping’s leadership, the vessel’s inclusion reflects the company’s commitment to bolstering national maritime security while continuing to provide reliable tanker services for both commercial and defense energy needs. The CS Anthem’s entry also demonstrates the resilience of the Crowley-Stena partnership, which combines expertise in U.S. flag operations and global tanker management.

By ensuring continuity in the fleet, the CS Anthem helps the U.S. maintain critical logistics and fuel transport readiness, reinforcing the importance of the Tanker Security Program in securing national defense supply chains.
