Latest Oil Rig Fire Results In Coast Guard Rescue Of Two
The United States Coast Guard responded on March 6, 2011, to reports of an oil production platform on fire approximately 50 miles off Grande Isle in the Gulf of Mexico.
The agency’s response promptly became a rescue effort, as the two persons on board the platform had abandoned the burning rig in a life capsule. According to the Coast Guard, the men were recovered from the life capsule by a good Samaritan vessel.
