Seven Pacific heads for first project



Subsea 7 Inc. says it new ice-class DP pipelay and construction vessel, Seven Pacific, has mobilized for its first project. The vessel will start a project in block 18 off Angola. 
The vessel's pipelay equipment has a tension capacity of 260 metric tons (287 tons) and a 2,500-metric ton (2,753-ton) storage capacity for flexible pipe on the two underdeck carousels. There is also a built-in deepwater dual 3,000 m (9,842 ft) rated work-class ROV spread and a comprehensive survey system. 
A deck area of 1,700 sq m (18,300 sq ft) has been incorporated into the Seven Pacific for equipment and reel storage. The ship has a 6.6 kV diesel electric power generator and three azimuth thrusters with fixed pitch propellers in the stern nozzles. One retractable azimuth thruster and two transverse thrusters have also been installed forward for better DP capabilities.
