CMA CGM and YILDIRIM: $500-Million Equity Note Issuance Finalised New Board of Directors Elected

In accordance with the agreements signed on 25 November 2010 between CMA CGM Group and the Yildirim Group, CMA CGM announced today that it has issued $500 million in Redeemable bonds, all of which were subscribed by the Yildirim Group.
This investment enables the Group to sustainably strengthen its balance sheet and secure its investment plan, while providing additional funds to support expansion.
Following the issuance, CMA CGM Group shareholders met in General Meeting and approved the new governance organisation, electing as Directors Jacques R. Saadé, Rodolphe Saadé, Tanya Saadé-Zeenny, Farid T. Salem, Tristan Vieljeux, Denis Ranque and Christian Garin, as well as Robert Yüksel Yildirim, Evren Öztürk and Ercüment Erdem.
At its meeting yesterday, the Board unanimously appointed Jacques R. Saadé as the Group’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He will be backed by three Executive Officers, Rodolphe Saadé, Farid T. Salem and Philippe Soulié.
With strengthened financial resources and an experienced executive team, CMA CGM Group has begun 2011 on a solid foundation, with the objective of consolidating its worldwide positions.

Diana Shipping Inc. Announces Time Charter Contract for M/V Thetis

Diana Shipping Inc., a global shipping company specializing in the transportation of dry bulk cargoes, Friday announced that it has entered into a time charter contract with Cargill International S.A., Geneva, for one of its Panamax dry bulk carriers,
the m/v Thetis, at a gross charter rate of US$13,750 per day, minus 5% commission paid to third parties, for a period of minimum eleven months (11) to maximum fourteen (14) months. The charter is expected to commence mid-February 2011.
This employment is anticipated to generate approximately US$4.5 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the charter.
The m/v Thetis is a 73,583 dwt Panamax dry bulk carrier built in 2004.
Diana Shipping Inc. is a global provider of shipping transportation services. The Company specializes in transporting dry bulk cargoes, including such commodities as iron ore, coal, grain and other materials along worldwide shipping routes.

Single-hull tankers still active, but exodus could be on the cards pretty soon

The phase-out of single-hull tankers under the IMO accelerated scheme was to be completed by the end of 2010, although certain exemptions has allowed some of the older tankers to trade up until 2015.
As a result, the latest weekly report from Gibson estimates that as of today approximately 26 million dwt of single-hull tankers are still active (ships of over10,000 dwt).

First of BigLift's 'Happy D-class' ships enters service

Metgasco to kick off drilling four coal seam gas pilot production wells in NSW

Metgasco will commence drilling the first of four coal seam gas multi-lateral pilot production wells in February.
The Harrier Pilot wells are located in the Eden Creek trend area and will target the Richmond seam within the Walloon Coal Measures at depths of between 300 to 400 metres.

AusTex Oil Limited Pratt No.1 Well Encountered Free Oil And Gas

AusTex Oil Limited is pleased to announce the following update on drilling operations underway in Kansas. 
Castle Resources Inc., as operator, advises that drilling on the Pratt #1 well has reached 3,862 feet and has encountered free oil and gas in the Toronto Formation between 3,827 feet to 3,862 feet. A Drill Stem Test is underway to test this zone before drilling continues to the Topeka and Lansing Kansas City Formations.
The Pratt #1 well is located to the north of the Clark #1 discovery well with a projected TD of 4,400 feet. 3D seismic conducted on the 26,500 acre project identified a four way closure at this site.
AOK holds a 53% Working Interest and a 43.5% Net Revenue interest in this project located in Sheridan County, Kansas.

Woodside in Pluto LNG deal with Petronas

WOODSIDE Petroleum has inked a deal with Malaysia's Petronas for up to 19 cargoes of liquefied natural gas from its Pluto project in Western Australia.
Woodside said in a statement today it had signed an LNG sale and purchase agreement with Asean LNG Trading Co, a subsidiary of Petronas International Corporation.

Kingaroy celebrates end of Cougar plant

The company might be disappointed but the people of Kingaroy are celebrating the end of Cougar's bid to establish an underground coal gasification (UCG) plant in their region.
The Queensland government announced on Friday it had pulled the plug on Cougar Energy's UCG pilot plant near Kingaroy, northwest of Brisbane, after it failed to prove its operations posed no serious harm to the environment.
