In today’s times, along with terrorism on land, there has been a severe increase in maritime terrorism. Maritime Terrorism can be simply defined as “any act of threat or violence against any civilian or military naval vessel, passengers, cargo and crew of the said vessel.” Also, “any marine transportation used to smuggle terrorists and/or terrorist material into any targeted country” is also included under Maritime Terrorism.
