USA: Interior department to speed up offshore wind development

Yesterday saw the Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu and his opposite number at the Department of the Interior, Ken Salazar jointly announce a series of measures designed to accelerate the growth of the offshore wind industry in the US.
Under the scheme, US$50.5m will be made available in funding for offshore R&D and the identification of suitable sites on the outer continental shelf off Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia.
