Aframaxes are the “winners” from the recent turmoil in the Middle East



The tanker market has been on the upside lately, as a result of the recent turmoil in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, with the latest Libyan crisis proving to be a fruitful opportunity for the bold and owners of Aframax tankers. According to London-based shipbrokers Gibson, the fact that force majeure hasn’t yet been declared means that tankers still have to be chartered and the uncertainty has led to Med Aframax rates rocketing.
